Government has been putting great emphasis on improving productivity and its internal processes, increased transparency in the decision making and bring in citizen participation as part of the inclusive governance in the country. Governance processes are based around creation of files, noting in the file, decision at various levels, and finally issuing decisions as letters and notifications. Any request to the Government goes through an elaborate processing of different stages called workflow. Most of these processes are handled in the form of files which move forward and backward for decisions. An automation of these files can play a very crucial role both in improving the efficiency of decision making and also in building transparency in governance.

The eOffice product pioneered by National Informatics Centre (NIC) aims to support governance by using in more effective and transparent inter and intra-government processes.

eFile is a workflow based system that includes the features of existing manual handling of files with addition of more efficient electronic system. This system involves all stages, including the Diarisation of inward receipts, creation of files, movement of receipts and files and finally, the archival of records.

It aims to improve the operational efficiency of the Government by transitioning to a “Less Paper Office”(Paperless Government). It enhance transparency – files can be tracked and their status is known to all at all times. It increase accountability – the responsibility of quality and speed of decision making is easier to monitor. Accessibility and Availability of information will become easier. Assure data security and data integrity.

It provide a platform for re-inventing and re-engineering the Government. Promote innovation by releasing staff energy and time from unproductive procedures and greater collaboration in the work place and effective knowledge management. Transform the Government work culture and ethics, by improving efficiency in file handling.  It make easy for tracking of disposal of Files. It is a “Work from anywhere solution.”

 

AP Digital eOffice

Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP launched “eOffice – A Digital Work Place Solution”  in AP Secretariat on 20th Dec 2014.  In the first phase, across the following 12 sites i.,e 10 departments (Agriculture, Finance, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, BC Welfare, Minority Welfare, Law, Housing, ITE&C, Civil Supplies) and  Office of  CM,Office of CS.  In the 2nd phase eOffice roll-out, all the remaining 24 departments, 2 Districts (Krishna, West Godavari) included.
